DefEddie
Curious if someone could help positively identify the trans I have as a 4T60HD. It was pulled from a 90 tgp,but i'm selling it and wanted to find some way to make myself feel better that it wasn't just a regular 4t60. Haven't been able to find any info for identification, the tag is unreadable except the stamping. Thanks for any help.
RobertISaar
a partial(or full?) VIN is supposed to be stamped on as well.... the TGP trans also used a FL9B converter, normal 3.1 used FJ9B. http://imgur.com/9wqGNyx
DefEddie
I'll check the TCC for ID when I go back out there, thanks robert.
DefEddie
Forgot a pic of a stamp,I wonder if that is common the way it is written on there from mclaren? Considering age,I'm assuming it's been rebuilt. If that is true then at least they knew what they were dealing with?
Garrett Powered
I have been shopping for torque converters. look at rock auto. they have options for stall rpm

DACCO Part # B21FG9 Hydra-Matic trans.; Trans. code THM125C; 1600 Stall Paper Clutch; 1630 Stall, Paper Clutch

$65.79 $20.00 $85.79

DACCO Part # B21FJ9 Hydra-Matic trans.; Trans. code THM125C; 2060 Stall, Paper Clutch

$69.79 $20.00 $89.79

DACCO Part # B21FD9 Hydra-Matic trans.; Trans. code THM125C; 2095 Stall, Paper Clutch Hydra-Matic trans.; Trans. code THM440/4T60/ME9; 2095 Stall, Paper Clutch

$77.79 $20.00 $97.79

DefEddie
Going off the info I know-TC is labeled correctly and it was pulled from a tgp-i'm gonna assume it is the correct trans. I've told the people asking about it that i wanted to confirm what i was selling, but they know what I know and can make an informed decision themselves I guess. I'm sure it's possible to swap in a regular 4t60,but gonna assume it's correct. Thanks for input guys.
RobertISaar
assuming typical GM treatment, HD doesn't mean that much different than a regular 4T60.
Turbo v-sick
assuming typical GM treatment, HD doesn't mean that much different than a regular 4T60. I agree from what I've seen there is nothing special in there other than the "supposedly" hardened parts. The valve body spacer and check ball placement is different along with some springs in the valve body itself. It appeared they were trying to raise line pressure at low rpm's to provide tighter shifts.
Imp558
I thought HD was a tougher diff and roller bearing outputs vs sleeve?
Turbo v-sick
I thought HD was a tougher diff and roller bearing outputs vs sleeve? I've never had a n/a and an hd torn apart sided by side but the differentials look the same off memory.
DefEddie
The electronic trans def have a different diff and needle bearing versus bushing. This one isn't easily removeable though, and need to dig it all out to get thru it.
