ONCEBITN
i found the 3.1 turbo from a prix and i can get all the parts, my question is this a waistgate operated turbo or is it electronically controlled, next question is the LG8 different or is it the same exhaust mani, im considering a swap onto my century, and before you start yes i know its complicated but if it has a waist gate then it can be done with almost no problems as long as it matches up
Heartbeat1991
Turbo 3.1 : Garrett T25, Internal wastegate, ECM actuated.
virtuetovice
If your century is a 1st gen with a 2.8 or 3.1 MPFI yes the turbo manifold is just a regular 3.1 manifold with a turbo flange. The turbo manifold will bolt right up to the head of any 2.8/3.1...everything else can be added in rather easily as well. Be sure to grab EVERYTHING!!! if you have a 3100 im not really sure. Heartbeat1991
The manifolds will still bolt to the heads, but I think they have different port sizes and shapes.
White93z34
you might run into some issues with the TGP manifolds being rather small for the exhaust ports on the heads. Also don't bother with the upper intake plenum it is far worse flowing then what you have already. Actually, you'll have to do a bunch of things different. unless you were to swap the sump and tgp steel oil pan (if it will even work at all) over i think you will have to drill and tap your stock cast aluminum oil pan for turbo oil return. Oil feep *should* be present above the oil filter in the form of a plug. Crossover might work if the manifolds work without much issue, however unless its already been rebuilt it will need it. Heartbeat1991
The crossover pipe won't work unless you are using the headers with it. It won't bolt to 3100 headers. The oil pan is a no go on a 3100 as well, but drilling and tapping an oil return port isn't a huge deal. The oil feed port is there and plugged as noted above. White93z34
also, in the stock configuration the wastegate is operated via a electronically controlled vacuum valve. Its really a non-issue though so long as you use a properly setup MBC it will be fine. getting a 2bar MAP sensor, and getting the PCM rescalled for it would be nice for tuning purposes. To get around that you could wideband monitor and adjust based off that. With how much better the LG8 flows vs the LG5 and even the L82 the T25 may be a bit small for your application, hell its even undersized for the engine it came on. Also of note: the oil feed port on the 91+ LH0 and I'd assume by association L82 and LG8 is larger then the 88-90 LH0/LB6/LG5 to use the oil feed line an adapter will be needed to fit the stock LG5 oil feed.
