i got my cut with 87,000 on her and shes got 106 on her now and shes got a nock to her when you start it when its cold. but once the temp goes up to norm it doesnt should i worry about it?i dont want to rebuild it this car is brand new body wise maybe i should get back.

i love this car though the chicks dig it i tell ya that wish i had the convertible though but i dont like that 3.4 its garbage shit ass pulley system .oh well live with the moon roof thanks man.maybe some after market vented rotors and shit will do the trick.

oh by the way mine seems to have a little harder shift from 1st to 2nd than the other gears but if you get into it it shifts nice .its kind of annoying and it doesnt do that when its cold wierd stuff other than that i love the car.i got the dash all painted red same paint as the car professionaly done by my boy down at reymore cheverolet ill have pics soon this is the badest newer cutlass supreme youll ever see. oh can you put a 3.8 supercharge in it cause if i can im gonna.

well i think im gonna in the spring.im sure i can do it i got a garage and all the tools i could dream for.i just wonder how many mods am i gonna have to do. i know its gonna be crazy when it comes to the computer in shit . my older brothers got a 98 gtp that things fast and it would be way faster in the cut .i got 15,000 to play with and i think this car would be like no other when im done.i think i could get it very fast.oh my 3100 smokes v6 mustangs through the gears i cant believe it.gets me in the top cause the cut shuts off.can i get a chip to stop that.

that knock your hearing...many people here argue on what this is. My dad, who worked for chevy, let me know what is up.

 

The two arguments are 1) Piston Slap and 2) Rockers

 

If it was Piston slap, it would happen all the time, not depending on temperature. I personally have never heard it, so I dont know if the sound is actually different.

 

As for rockers, which I am pretty sure is your problem (mine, and many other 3100s), it fades as the engine heats up (or the temp....the warmer it is, the shorter the time the noise persists).

 

Its nothing to worry about. You _could_ put in new rockers, but the sound would come back VERY shortly. Also, one of the guys that used to be here SaberZ (havent seen him in a while though), did different viscosities of Oil. He had a new Impalla, and it did the same thing.

Just to beat a dead horse, my 3100 does it, my friends old Monte with a 3100 did it. My G/f's Ciera with the 3100 does it as well. I have also talked to quite a few people about it, and as godofthunder said, it doesn't really have an side effects besides being kind of annoying on a cold start!!

 

Oh, and go for the L67...that'd be cool...or something...!! lol

Our 3100's don't allow us to upgrade our CPU's. They do a flash to the CPU which is only performed by certain shops with a special tool. There is a post that I had a ways back that talked about this. Its just like you doing a flash bios on your home computer.

when my tranny first started acting up, i was gonna sell the cutty. someone came to look at the car, started it up and almost left right away after he heard the knock. He said the engine was wrecked! I said "listen to any other 3100 or 3.1, they all do that". He just looked at me funny and left!

well it only shakes when i hit the brakes thats why.i put it in the air and its got no play side to side or up and down so im pretty sure its the calipers are thrashed or somthin cause when i put new pads and rotors on it its still had a little shake to it them it just slowly gets worse.i know its needs strut bearings as of now .

yeah i did it all at once and it was better but still had a slight rumble to it and it just gets worse as i go .im eather thinking calipers or speed sensors or somthing.well actually last night the abs light came on and now i think i lost abs even though the light turned back off but now its not doing it as bad so i think its the damn abs system i hate abs .
