On the outside of the tank, yes. High heat oil and gas resistant. Plus its pretty tough :)

It's good enough?? ^

My thoughts were that gas should never see the OUTSIDE of the tank so I used a good rubberized undercoating when mine was out. It would be nice to use por on the whole underneath one day but that region of the car won't be exposed when the budget allows.

Bout a gallon or so. I got a 16.6 gallon tank from a 99 monte for my 97 :)

If you're only going to POR15 the tank I'd get a six-pack of 4-oz cans. You would probably need 2 of them, the rest you could save for a rainy day. If you open a gallon the leftovers will probably harden in the can before you ever use it.

Yeah a gallon will coat the whole damn car, even a quart is waaaayyyyy more than you need

I found there was far more rust accumulation on the top of the tank, than actually the bottom. The bottom gets washed off semi-regularly, while the top of the tank up against the body, will get wet and will rust.
