Wow. That got intense. I stuck to my budget though.

Some of them went for $700

I didnt think the demand was that high.

I bid on 7 of them at $300 each. Lost all but one.

I didn't think they were going to get that high either. I was thinking 50-100 per engine. At 50 bucks I was going to get 10 of them.

Now we will see a bunch of them on Ebay selling for 1000-1500 dollars.

Ok, I grabbed some tools and tie-down straps and headed down to the city to grab the stuff.

I took some pictures because I like chronicling stuff. :)

It was at an old warehouse where the Detroit public school board of education housed their learning stuff. The place was packed. I think there are a lot more auctions coming.

The motors gathered in herds.

I went to a window and paid, then they rolled out my LQ1 and the cutaway motor. Holy crap it was heavy.

Looks like it had the alternator / compressor / fuel rails and other shit attached it. And it was chromed out. Sweet. Time to load it up. I didnt want any damage to either, so I had a few of their helpers back me in and used a ramp to roll it on my f150 truck bed

Now lets do the speed limit which is totally not normal for me.

45 minutes in the right lane.

Home finally. Lets make sure everything's still cool.

All done. *whew. Covered them up and they are in my pole barn.

Did it all alone. One Guy and two motors. Its like 2 girls and one cup with more swearing!

Bye bye motor!

It was a pleasure meeting you guys and seeing a familiar face. Thanks for the all dressed chips. They went well with the case of Coronas.

Why they are not available in the states is puzzling.

"I was supervising."

Al,

For a dude that I'm assuming does run a forklift at his job, you did a pretty ace job, if that was me Matt would be searching out some new LED tails for this Denali . . . best case scenario.

Being in a US-bound vehicle with All-Dressed chips was an old experience, not being the dude presenting the all-dressed chips or buying them was a new one.

Definitely hoping to catch up with you again, was great meeting you. Here's the two monsters that I left at home. Given my recent luck with road trips both of them with Detroit destinations, it was probably a good idea that they stayed at home.

My imagination or was the flywheel chromed? WTF? For wear resistance on the teeth?

That's a cutaway/display engine that GM likely had at an automotive show way back in the day. They chrome out a lot of pieces on them to make them look nice.
