MommyTaz022200
I'm done painting mine and need to put it on my car now. The doner car (94? Sunfire) had holes drilled into the trunk thru 2 layers of metal. The layer closer to the inside was a bigger hole so the bolts were accesable. There were black rubber like plugs in those holes and they hid the bolts. On the bottom of the spoiler, between the area where the spoiler and the trunk meet there was some rubbery foam like stuff, I'm guessing to stop water from getting trapped between the spoiler and trunk lid. On the doner car there was rust around the rubbery foam. 1. Are there holes predrilled into my trunk on the inner piece od metal or do I need to drill thru both layers of metal? Is there a trick to lining up the holes to get them right? 2. What should I use to replace the rubbery stuff? I just got my trunk leak fixed so I don't want it to leak again, nor do I want rust around the spoiler like the doner car had.
Robby1870
Alright, as you can tell by my sig pic, Ive added a 95 GTP spoiler, and it was really easy. No, you dont have holes predrilled in your trunk for the spoiler. The thing to remember is measure 20 times, drill once. Measure and re-measure and re-measure to make sure you have it where you want it. I put RTV in the holes I made so that they were water tight, and around the inside of the trunk where the nuts are. My spoiler already had those black pads on it, so I didnt have to get anymore. Its not that hard, just make sure you have it where you want it before you drill. Oh, I've had mine on for about 3-4 months and it has never leaked

supreme_style21
The spoiler off a Sunfire fits GP's??
MaroonRegal
If it's a 94, it's a Sunbird, but if it's a Sunfire, it's a 95 at the earliest. Either way, I'm kinda surprised it fits too, way to find a creative spoiler choice, MT.

93Luminanewb
I have a spoiler off of a Sunbird on my Lumina. It looks a little small, but it still looks good. I drilled my own holes in the trunklid, i just used a permanent marker, and marked the area right before the studs on the spoiler while it was sitting on the trunk, then i drilled right in front of the mark. It's sketchy, but it worked for me. Also, I used an old inner-tube as the gasket between the trunk and the spoiler, it worked great.
RareGMFan
Back when I had my '86 6000 STE, I added an S/E spoiler on. I used Elmer's glue on the ends of the bolts to mark where I wanted the holes drilled. I just carefully positioned the spoiler a 1/2" away from the trunk. When I had it where I wanted it, I pressed it against the trunk so the glue could leave a mark exactly where the bolts were going to go and where the trunk would need to be drilled. After you've made the holes, it's easy to wipe off the glue. Just an idea.
rudefyet
um...well my gp has an aftermarket spoiler...it's slighty longer then the stock one so it hits the antenna...lol...but yeah it didn't look like it was hard just seal the holes though with some silicone otherwise it'll leak like mine did
runt
Yeah, mines an add on. Yeah, I had someone else do it b/c I can't bring myself to drill holes in my car. I have those little black pads on mine, and with that 'n how it's bolted on, I haven't had a leak in my trunk yet and I've had it on since about March of this year...and it's been a wet year!! But if you were to do it yourself...like robby said...measure, measure, measure. I thought of doing it myself, but I'm a wuss! Good luck! Can't wait to see pics!
