2001goldGTP Posted November 24, 2013 Report Posted November 24, 2013 So i wanted to see what my pies would look like if i had them powder coated. So the cheaper and easier way was plasti dip and tape on my spare pie wheel. The results could be better but i was my first time with the plasti dip. I will be saving up to have this done nicely. Nas Escobar Posted November 24, 2013 Report Posted November 24, 2013 This one is my personal favorite! You should do this to the other wheels with plastidip until you can get the real deal done! haha Quote
1988PhantomFE3 Posted November 24, 2013 Report Posted November 24, 2013 I'm going to have mine done professionally by Scott at Detriot Vintage Wheels, $600 for all 4 wheels + I pay all shipping cost. They will come back better than NEW. I should send 1 off this week just to get to see what it will look like. I'm really glad you posted this project, "Ya DUN GOOD!" Quote
2001goldGTP Posted November 24, 2013 Author Report Posted November 24, 2013 Lol thanks, i also needed an example to take to a rim shop here so they dont mess up. This is a spare pie i have, thats why the lip is in bad shape. Quote
RobertISaar Posted November 24, 2013 Report Posted November 24, 2013 i was thinking "blah" until the last pic. now i'm kind of curious to see how long it would last on the road. Quote
Twenty Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 With the black inserts - yes. That looks great. Quote
2001goldGTP Posted November 25, 2013 Author Report Posted November 25, 2013 i was thinking "blah" until the last pic. now i'm kind of curious to see how long it would last on the road. I would need to buy some more cans of the stuff, that was about half a can and 5 coats. Its my spare i had no real intensions of running that one on the road. Quote
George Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 The one with the black accents really looks good. Quote
2001goldGTP Posted November 25, 2013 Author Report Posted November 25, 2013 The blue part is blue painters tape not pastidip. Quote
intern8tion9l Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 I guess I may be the only one who isn't down with the black insets. Don't even like it on the pace car, and I even tried it on my cutlass Quote
2001goldGTP Posted November 28, 2013 Author Report Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) I had other wheels on my cutlass, i hated it, i have lived with the pies since 1990 and nothing else looked right see below..... [ Edited November 28, 2013 by 2001goldGTP Quote
intern8tion9l Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 I hear ya, it's mostly the black aspect of it that doesn't do it for me. But of course it's not my car Quote
2001goldGTP Posted November 28, 2013 Author Report Posted November 28, 2013 Yeah, there are a lot ofblack accents on the car so i figure i would give it a shot. There are a lot of red accents too, but i am not painting them red lol. Red wheels dont do it for me. Quote
94 olds vert Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 I like those Mustang? Wheels. The pie wheels are much better. Quote
2001goldGTP Posted November 29, 2013 Author Report Posted November 29, 2013 Those are center line storms off my gtp, i was having a tire emergncy and the gtp has a busted trans and $1300 sport piolets on them so i did what i had to for a couple weeks lol. Quote
intern8tion9l Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 Now those look real good on the GTP Quote
White93z34 Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 I think I was looking into those Centerlines for my z34 awhile back, that GTP wears those so nice. Quote
2001goldGTP Posted December 1, 2013 Author Report Posted December 1, 2013 Thanks, they are really strong wheels, i was driving in the rain when i first got them, hit a pothole i didnt see due to the rain at speed. The car started making a griding noise. The wheel bearing got messed up from the impact the wheels and tire were/are still perfect. Quote
2001goldGTP Posted December 8, 2013 Author Report Posted December 8, 2013 So reflective concepts came through and helped me out so i wont lose the "oldsmobile" on the pies when they get powder coated. Had them done in reflective black, and gave RC the best measurements i could. Quote
