Galaxie500XL Posted November 15, 2013 Report Share Posted November 15, 2013 Well, while it's possible it came loose, the more probable scenario, based on experience is that it broke. Open the door, take the plastic cover that covers the "guts" of the door handle, and you'll probably find it's broken in half, right around the level of where the window bottom is. If so, replacement is the only option. Either junkyard, or there are a few aftermarket options, but the junkyard option has worked well for me. There are several writeups on these boards that describe your options, and how to replace the door handle...after having snapped 3 in the past 4 years, I can change one out in less than 30 minutes, including the time it takes to find the stupid Torx bit you'll need to remove the lock cylinder from your current lock.
