will_s95
I just recently did a pan drop and filter change about 5k miles ago. I had a problem where the trans would downshift hard into first. This never happens anymore after the pan drop but now the car is having trouble shifting into second gear. When the car is cold, it shifts perfect. When the car warms up though, its a different story. It's most noticeable during slow acceleration. When the tranny shifts, it feels like the gas was let off for a quick second, even though the RPM stays the same, and then with a slight shudder it engages second, kind of hard. The overall process takes about two seconds compared to the half second for the other gear changes. This does not happen with second to third and third to overdrive, only first to second. Is there anything easy I can do to remedy this? From searching around I've read it might be solenoids. Are these right inside the pan? Or is this a common problem with a bad vacuum modulator? Thanks. RobertISaar
kind of sounds like the 1-2 accumulator spring is broken?
will_s95
Is that an easy fix? How can I diagnose that that is the problem?
RobertISaar
i want to say the 1-2 spring is easy to get to once the pan is off. i think the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator only take 4 additional bolts to get to at that point. only real way to be sure is to inspect it. will_s95
Thanks. Can you post a picture or a link to a diagram so I know what to look for during my next pan drop?
RobertISaar
this looks like the best diagram i can pull. the 4T60E shift kit writeup would probably be helpful as well, it shows which bolts need to be pulled to remove the accumulator housing. http://imgur.com/JdZlKv0 http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/35870-4T60-e-Shift-Kit-Write-Up
RobertISaar
actually, the writeup has better diagrams as well.
