gmrulz4u
I noticed that my AutoXray displays something called "Hwy Spark Adv" and tells whether it is ACTIVE or DISABLED. When I do a search online, I get NO results at all for this engine variable, and I'm wondering why?? Does anyone know what this is?? Also, does anyone have information on what the Charcoal Canister Purge valve is?? THANKS:)
ctx46
the advance thing is more than likely a fuel econimy thing...... and the purge valve is the valve that lets the raw gas fumes through to the charcol canister. more emmisions stuff that never seems to work.... gmrulz4u
Yeah... I was just a little concerned because when I was driving tonight, I noticed that the Highway Spark Advance would become Active as soon as I stepped on the gas! I thought I read in the manual that it's ONLY supposed to happen when I've been at a steady speed for a while, kind of like the Lock-Up Torque Converter... GnatGoSplat
I'm thinking that while cruising, the EGR opens up introducing some exhaust into the intake. When this occurs, the engine can run a bit more advanced. Just a guess.
