l67ss
My sister has an 08 g6 that was struck by lightning. I offered to fix it but she got another g6 and is parting the 08. My question is how hard would it be to adapt the 3.5 to my 97 monte? She said i could have the engine. Thanks
tornado_735
As far as I remember, if it's a VVT 3500, it's damn near impossible. I could be wrong. If it's a non-VVT, there is some fabrication involved, as well as some custom tuning, and having to get a non-fly by wire throttle body. There's more to it than that, and others can chime in. tornado_735
Be forewarned, I could be thinking about the 3900 in terms of it being impossible...something about the VVT is what makes you unable to swap it. I just can't remember for sure.
RobertISaar
being an 08, it has to be a gen4, so 3500 or 3900, they're both VVT. with the right PCM, locking out the VVT function or getting some type of standalone VVT controller on it, you could do it without too much fabrication, after all, it's still an OHV 60V6, correct bellhousing and more or less identical in size and accessory placement compared to a 3100. l67ss
So would my intake fit it? Are there any parts on it that would be an improvement for my current 3.4? (In cas i get too lazy to swap the whole engine lol) as always thanks man being an 08, it has to be a gen4, so 3500 or 3900, they're both VVT. with the right PCM, locking out the VVT function or getting some type of standalone VVT controller on it, you could do it without too much fabrication, after all, it's still an OHV 60V6, correct bellhousing and more or less identical in size and accessory placement compared to a 3100. RobertISaar
gen4 parts generally do not swap down to gen3.5 or earlier. but i really don't know.... i imagine if they did, people would be putting the gen4 heads/intakes on instead of the non-VVT 3500 stuff.
