Luke94vert Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Welcome Very nice car. That clean with that many miles you have taken very well care of it. Quote
mfewtrail Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Welcome John. That's a lot of miles. Quote
l67ss Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 You going with a stock engine or are you gonna upgrade? An easy swap is the newer 3400 engine. Me 19cutlass94 and a few others are rocking them. Quote
john koehler Posted October 23, 2013 Author Report Posted October 23, 2013 Thinking just stock. :-) Keeping it simple. Might look into the 3400 as I actually enjoy the electrical aspects!! Quote
l67ss Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 As far as i know the only wiring youd have to do is for the crank sensor, but i dont know for sure(swap was done before i got the car) its even running the stock pcm Thinking just stock. :-) Keeping it simple. Might look into the 3400 as I actually enjoy the electrical aspects!! Quote
john koehler Posted October 24, 2013 Author Report Posted October 24, 2013 That's it???? Hmmm... Options are good!! Might look into it a bit further... Thanks for the heads up!! Quote
l67ss Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 No prob. talk to 19cutlass94, he did the swap himself. Hed kno more definate info Quote
john koehler Posted October 24, 2013 Author Report Posted October 24, 2013 Just dawned on me... I am OBD1.5. If I did a swap like that, I would most likely take it to OBD2. Is yours OBD2 as well? '95's seem to vary a lot in OBD. Quote
l67ss Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 You can use your stock pcm and harness. It would be a good time to convert to obd2 though. Quote
Intrigued Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Beautiful car, excuse another noobie question but what kind of 3100 is that? I don't recognize the double dog bone design or the cover on top. I'm impressed that it's such high mileage, it sure doesn't show! Quote
l67ss Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Small port 3.1 used from 93(i think) through 99. Only noob question is the one that doesnt get asked Beautiful car, excuse another noobie question but what kind of 3100 is that? I don't recognize the double dog bone design or the cover on top. I'm impressed that it's such high mileage, it sure doesn't show! Quote

l67ss Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Sorry man, i pimped out your 3400 into 1st gen swap knowledge lol Welcome! That's one clean car you have there! Sent from my iPhone Quote
john koehler Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Posted October 25, 2013 Hi Intrigued. It's a stock 3100, vin code M. Not sure of the differences between this and the older 3.1L, besides the fuel injection. The dogbones are odd (compared to the older ones). There is one bushing on the "dogbone" (looks more like a wishbone on these) and one on the forward mount. This means BOTH parts need to be replaced (per side). I am going to poly the forward bushing at some point, to keep replacement costs down. Quote
john koehler Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Posted October 25, 2013 Thanks Euro! I like the HUD too much to stop driving it. Gonna take her off the road for some work (hopefully soon), paint, new engine, that kind of stuff. Quote
john koehler Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Posted October 25, 2013 Look who's talking!!! I love your Cutty!!! Quote
