Hello all. I'm hoping you can help me choose some good quality parts. I own a Buick Lacrosse (1st gen) and when I was changing transmission fluid I noticed my new front tires had gone from perfect to badly worn in the course of a few months. After a visit to the dealership for a burning rubber smell after acceleration I had a new wheel hub assembly. The other side went bad shortly thereafter. I took it in again and this time another tech serviced it and said he had "adjusted" the bearing. I was a little stumped but the guy was old school and figured he knew a few tricks the other guys didn't. A few days ago I got a wobbling under deceleration on random occasion, and today on my way to my classes the ABS and T/C MIL lit up after passing another vehicle. I took it into class, put it on the lift and found the ABS connecter had fallen off of its bracket and when I turned the wheel to pass the other vehicle it snapped the grey wire on the wheel hub side of the ABS connectors. The wheel bearings went bad somewhere between 35k-45k miles, which I guess is understandable due to the 30k miles I put on it since last February, Odometer is at 47,100k. Due to the heavy driving I do in the vehicle I'm thinking of opting out of having it replaced under warranty with OEM parts and looking for a better quality part in the aftermarket. I was looking for suggestions as to what brands are known to be better than OEM.

Well there is no adjusting these wheel bearings, they are a sealed unit once its bad replace is the only option.

Going through wheel bearings in 35-45,000 miles seems rather excessive.

If its under warranty, I'd get it done, and do it again in the future if need be. But if you replace it yourself about the only brands I'd trust are Timkin and SKF. I've had WAY, WAY too many of the crappy Advance Auto/Autozone ones fall apart in record time
