Jonpro03 Posted August 31, 2013 Author Report Posted August 31, 2013 Feeling a lot better about the interior now that it's somewhat clean. The carpet is brand new (definitely not original). Anyone interested in gray AQ9s? No rips, but it looks like there is a mismatched piece of plastic on each, and they're dirty. Quote
Jonpro03 Posted August 31, 2013 Author Report Posted August 31, 2013 OH Saar help me.... http://60degreev6.com/forum/showthread.php/47492-Tell-me-about-the-LZ9-s-VVT-cam I didn't realize there was more to that thread on April 2011. Did you ever figure out if you could PWM the VVT? Now I'm not looking for a 3500. Quote
RobertISaar Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 factory method is via a PWM signal.... so i don't see why not. the trick is doing it in closed loop using the cam sensor signal. i think it has 4 notches on it? probably 3 at a shared interval(240 crank degrees) with 1 at a different interval for cylinder ID purposes. that's the portion i'm having issues with due to some hardware missing from the PCM i've been playing with. Who do we know that has a lz9 and a scope? Quote
Jonpro03 Posted August 31, 2013 Author Report Posted August 31, 2013 Looks to me like the MS3 is a good fit for an LZ9. http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/vvt.html I think it's only $80 more than the MS2. Can't say the same about the lz9, $650 for 100k miles. That and it would probably eat a 282 for breakfast, especially with the help of a turbo. I already know how to read the 58x CPS so I can use the factory ignition. Hmmm Quote
RobertISaar Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Joseph Upson has a modded, turbo 3900 pushing up to 18PSI through a F40..... Quote
Jonpro03 Posted August 31, 2013 Author Report Posted August 31, 2013 chris something on clubgp did an F40 too... Will this trans work on my 60*? http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-MUNCIE-282-FIERO-CAVALIER-BERETTA-QUAD-4-2-4L-/360678617661?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53fa1ef23d&vxp=mtr Quote

Garrett Powered Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 free shipping? 282? $400? wouldn't that be nice.... Quote
Jonpro03 Posted August 31, 2013 Author Report Posted August 31, 2013 http://60degreev6.com/forum/showthread.php/44296-Getrag-282-Q4-with-V6-housing/page2 There is hope yet. Just need to see how badly the current 282 was damaged. Quote
Jonpro03 Posted August 31, 2013 Author Report Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Also, I (properly) cleaned the car today. I am 99.9% sure that the car has been repainted. I think TGPs had black/gold metallic paint, but this is black/silver metallic. I'll get some pics after wax. EDIT: Oh and Saar, I might just swap the trans and see where I stand with the current engine. PCM is missing a chip though. Do you have a TGP 5spd tune you can send me? Edited August 31, 2013 by Jonpro03 Quote
Psych0matt Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 did you try firing it up? If you're going to do a swap anyhow, might be interesting to see what this engine does Quote
Jonpro03 Posted September 1, 2013 Author Report Posted September 1, 2013 Can't. No memcal, let alone tune. Hopefully robert can come through for meh. It would be nice to be able to move it instead of pushing it everywhere, but I'm not going anywhere without a transmission. It looks like the rust is not beyond repair, but it's bad. At least, I need to fab up some trailing arm mounts. Hopefully it doesn't go beyond that. Tear down coming soon. Quote
RobertISaar Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 didn't see the request until now. i don't have any calibrations setup for a 5 speed TGP, but an auto calibration would likely run well enough to get it mobile. Quote
Venom Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Same one I got last time. Its just sitting on my parts shelf Quote
Jonpro03 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Report Posted September 2, 2013 Do you want to buy it back? Its just sitting on my parts shelf Depends. Do you still have the awesome custom downpipe? Quote
Euro Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Damn man, welcome back to the insanity. That engine bay didn't even look like it was capable of functioning with all of that bullshit debris Definitely looks a ton better, can't wait for some updates! Quote
BrianG Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Great pick up man! Welcome back hehe. Fix her up! 5-spd TGPs FTW! Edited September 9, 2013 by BrianG Quote
Jonpro03 Posted September 9, 2013 Author Report Posted September 9, 2013 Working on it. Still haven't seen under the car. Tires went flat so it's just sitting in the back alley waiting to be pushed into the garage. Garage is all set for a major undertaking though, just not sure if it will be this car. Might have a replacement trans lined up Quote
Jonpro03 Posted November 4, 2013 Author Report Posted November 4, 2013 Little bit of work on the car today. Just stripping it down. Life is so busy, it's hard to find time anymore... Quote
Jonpro03 Posted August 19, 2014 Author Report Posted August 19, 2014 I looked at it today... still sitting in the garage. Quote
Psych0matt Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Hey Jon!!! Thanks for the update... Next one will hopefully have more to it Quote
Jonpro03 Posted August 19, 2014 Author Report Posted August 19, 2014 Yeah, I was heating up some pizza rolls and thought I'd go stare at it. Looks like hell. Need to get off my ass and work on it. Quote
