Put new memcal and airbox

I put a prom from a 89? Grand Prix 2.8 that doesn't have MAF, so my car seems to be running better and I don't need to replace the stupid MAF anymore. The service engine light doesn't come on (well, at least for 10 min or so anyways... probably a different problem.)

I also replaced my old round style air box with the newer rectangle shaped one, and was wondering what the sensor thing on it is for? I just have the wires sticking out for now. :?:

Anyways the car seems to be okay, although its just parked and I haven't been able to take it for a drive.

im not sure if this is applied in that year but my 95 has 2 sensors.

the MAP sesnor and an Airtemp sensor little round rod directly behind the MAP sensor about 1.5 inches back.

you put a 89ecu chip in your 88? i dont know what year they started to require the MAP sensor or air temp sensor. Wireing harnasses will be different.

Your checkengine light could be related to your 02 sensor dealing with the missing MAP sesnor? Atleast that would explain why it only comes on after the motor warms up. Check your codes to be sure.

Why did you change your ecu in the first place???

Yes, the sensor in the airbox is the MAT. And, since you went from MAF to MAP, you need to hook that MAT sensor up, thats more than likely why your SES light is coming on. You will need to wire that MAT sensor to the ECM. So you will need to find where it is supposed to go on the ECM. There is a write up somewhere on how to conver the 88 MAF to MAP. I have no idea where it is though, but I have seen it
