RobertISaar
as long as you match the key's code with the passkey module's code, you'll be fine. the passkey setup used on the 1.5 W-bodies is a very simple system, key code is compared against the known value stored in the passkey module. if it matches, then a 50Hz signal is sent to the PCM that allows the injectors to operate and the starter disable relay is held in the "allow" position. the PCM has no idea of what the code is, just whether or not the PK module accepts it. there are 15 possible keycodes, so since you have the correct key, just make sure the correct PK module is used with it. RobertISaar
hidden behind the glovebox is the best description i can give. it's a small plastic box, next to a relay, green connector i think. 1 or 2 bolts/screws holding it down. l67ss
Can i just use my original passkey module and key from my 97 with the 98 pcm
Crazy K
the key is coded to match the module in the car, the module is behind the glovebox, mounted on a plate directly beneath the airbag. You do not need the key from the donor vehicle of your new PCM. You can swap the PCM (and underhood everything, engine, etc. if that is what you are saying) into your car without changing the key, as long as you use your current key and the module your car came with. l67ss
Guess thas the question i should hav asked been simpler that way lol the key is coded to match the module in the car, the module is behind the glovebox, mounted on a plate directly beneath the airbag. You do not need the key from the donor vehicle of your new PCM. You can swap the PCM (and underhood everything, engine, etc. if that is what you are saying) into your car without changing the key, as long as you use your current key and the module your car came with.
