ILoveSun
Tomorrow will be a week that I've owned my '94 Cutlass 'Vert, and this just started yesterday, and repeated again twice today - once at start-up this morning and again when I was leaving work (the car had sat idle all day). It has the 3.4 and when I start it, it idles up and down for a few minutes, and then evens out. Also, while doing this, it smells as if it's running rich. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Greg
19Cutlass94
Well when the motor is cold, it will run richer. Does it feel like its missfiring?
ILoveSun
Possibly, but if it is it is very minor. It tends to idle higher regardless of the ambient temp. It was 89 here today when I got off work and it took a few miles for it to settle into a normal idle.
19Cutlass94
That's normal.
GOT2B GM
I think he's talking about more of a loping idle. My 1994 CS droptop with the LQ1 also does that on a cold start. Will high idle for a bit (normal cold idle) then as it tries to idle down to a warm idle, it'll lope up and down for a couple minutes, then smooth out at the lower warm idle. Haven't been able to sort it out. My 1995 CS droptop which is identical powertrain wise, does not do it.
