LUMINATOR
Where would the TCC location be on a 1990 Chevy Lumina 3.1?

ManicMechanic
In the transmission. It is accessible by removing the side pan.
LUMINATOR
Can the side pan be removed easily or is it a pain in the ass? The car shifts fine through every single gear fine but once I reach 45 mph it shifts hard into 4th gear hard? Could this be a sign of a faulty TCC? Dark Ride
removing the side pan on any transverse mounted transmission is a complete pain in the ass. It could be a TCC, could be something else. The main question would be is it the torque converter solenoid that is doing it or is 4th gear just going out. I know the newer cars will lockup the TC in 3rd gear as well, but not sure about the old 4T60s. You could try driving in 3rd and if it does it at roughly 45 mph then you know it is TCC related. Your car also has a vacuum modulator mounted on the front of the trans, it could be that, but again not really sure, been a while since I've worked on a 4T60. LUMINATOR
I unplugged the TCC and it went through 1-3 gears but it did not go into overdrive. Plugged the connector back in and it went into overdrive the same way before, hard. I mean its not a neck jerking shift but it is hard.
