J.r. Patton Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I have a 91 cutlass supreme International... Im needing a tranny.. BUT how do I know if its the 4T60 or the 4t60e? I know its a 4 speed with the 3.1 engine. Also if anyone has a good tranny thats relatively close to OKC.. Let me know.. Quote
Imp558 Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Along the passengers side on the back of the tranny is a plate held on by a clip, it's a bitch to get to but it has numbers that you can cross reference to tell exactly what it is and what gear ratio and all. This is the coolest 4TXX tranny I.D. resource I've ever seen: http://www.gmtuners.com/transmission/ Quote
White93z34 Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 in 1991 the 4t60e was only available with the 3.4 DOHC in w-bodys. Quote
RobertISaar Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 yeah, for W applications, only the LQ1 had it for 91-92. 93, the 3.8, 3.1 and 3100 got them. also, the early W 4T60E were oddballs compared to everything else that got them... the rest all started off with TCC PWM, 4 circuit PRNDL decoder, etc.... everything that took a few years to make it to the W platform models. J.r. Patton Posted July 10, 2013 Author Report Posted July 10, 2013 well from the vin and the dealership says its the 4T60E. Quote

Hairdo12 Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 1991 3.1 is without a doubt a 4t60 non E. just look at the Trans pan, it should be stamped very large, can't miss it. Quote
