tyroelite Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 I am hoping to change my spark plugs and wires on my TGP tonight. I know at some point i read online about how to get to the back plugs but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where that writeup is or feel like sharing some much needed info? It seems to me I remember something to do with rocking the engine forwards to get to the back 3 but I can't remember exactly how to do that. Thanks. Quote
Slade901 Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 First, engage the emergency brake. Set the transmission to Neutral. If the coolant reservoir is in the middle then remove it. Quote
NeverSayDie Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 do it the lazy way! i always hold mine forward with my riding mower, much easier than pulling with one hand, and trying to line up that bolt with the other Quote
Slade901 Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 I remember someone saying they put the car in an incline position. The front is goin down on an incline and that helped them tilt the engine forward easier. I think it can be duplicated by raising the rear of the car and put it in jackstands and put something on the front tires to prevent it from moving and also set the emergency brake. Quote
slick Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 I can do mine without tilting the engine. Quote
91cutty Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 tilting the engine is really easy if you have someone else to help pull. Quote
slick Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 It is, but i have small enough arms to change them without tilting the engine. Quote
gp90se Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I yank the alternator. Might wanna replace the PCV vavle while ya back there. -Jeff Quote
conley3.1 Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I rotated my engine forward about a million times by myself... it's not that hard... And why woudl you put ont he parking brake when the rear of the car is raised? That's kinda pointless... I can't think of anything that would help with the sparkplugs that hasn't already been said, so, good luck. Quote
GPRACER Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I remove the dog bones and use a ratcheting strap to tilt the engine. The strap is only about 3 bucks at a hardware store. Quote
