Galaxie500XL
Just came from the auto parts place, needed to get a modulator for my Cutlass...the one that had was ANCIENT....the application guide in the box didn't even list any FWD transmissions. Wanted to make sure I remembered right--the modulator for a T460E is the same as the modulator used in the old RWD TH350, and TH400's, right? This one doesn't have the large "can" for the vacuum...but otherwise looks right. Am I remembering this right, that they're functionally the same? RobertISaar
adjustable modulators for a TH350 work on a 4T60E, so i imagine a stock replacement one would work as well.
Galaxie500XL
Thanks, Robert...I was pretty sure when I walked out I remembered that correctly...since it looks a bit different than the stock modulator, I got unsure of myself. One bonus, though, the new modulator IS adjustable.
mchill07
What kind of symptom were you having, or was this just something you replaced for preventative maintenance? I have the original "can" modulator on my 95' GP and was wondering if it was causing the mild bump I get sometimes when the trans shifts back into 1st. Galaxie500XL
Delayed 1-2 upshift, and VERY firm shift, once it occurred. I had this same issue several years ago, when I first bought the car, replacing the modulator took care of the problem. For $12.00, it seemed a safe place to look again, since the symptom has returned.
Imp558
My 4T60 was shifting firm and come to find out the vacuum canister was completely broken off and the line capped before I bought it. Shifted fine after I figured that one out.
