95 3.4 DOHC in a 96 Cultlass

I may have a chance to get a 95 3.4 DOHC, engine transmission, and wiring. Is the wiring different between 95 and 96. I though 95 was OBD 1.5 and 96 was OBD 2 if anyone knows let me know. If not i should be able to get a 96 harness and plug everything in right.

Thanks

Yeah, 96 was the first year for the OBD2. Just get the computer from the donor car and all should be ok.

keep your 96 intake. You will need the 95 exhaust manifold. Most of the sensors should match up. If they aren't there take them (preferrably get new ones) and put them where they belong. And what kind of shape are the 96 heads in? You may want to put them on the 95 block. There is one kind of mating (new with old block/head) That gives you a really nice compression ratio! Regardless, people will buy the 96 heads from ya.

But, is the firewall connector going to be the same, i would think i would have to use a 96 pcm so that it will work the the interior and the cars BCM

rite.

Thanks

to answer your question.... no the firewall connectors are completely different. you need all wiring diagrams from both vehicles that you get the parts from.

put the sensors that should be in place on the 96 on the 95 block. I did a swap putting an OBDII engine in my OBDI. Pull the engine and you will see what I mean. You might have to put some sensors from the 96 on the 95 block-- There is a spot for them to screw in! Geez.

From your sig: "96 Oldsmobile Cutlass w/2000 GTP 3800 Series II SuperCharged. Mods: 9in K&N Cone, Thrasher Shift Kit."

Is this the car the 3.4 DOHC is going in? And if so, why?

Ok thanks for the info guys, and yes the 3.4tdc is going into my L67 Cutlass, i built about a $10,000-$12,000 L67 and it just isnt reliable anymore, so im moving on to LS1 Stuffs(F-body), and im just going to use the cutlass a daily driver for now or try to sell it.

Thanks

You musta got a lemon. Buick's 3.8L V6 is known as one of the most reliable engines on the market, and has been known as such for many years.

Its not that the 3800 isnt reliable, its that i have almost 10k in mods done to mine, It should be capable of running 11sec 1/4 mile times. I was having alot of little problems with it, and i dont want to deal with it anymore. Its my daily driver and i drive almost a 100 miles a day. I want somthing that i dont have to worry about.

Heres some pics of the motor.

Ok, so i need a Engine computer, and wiring from a 96 motor and it should all work then Correct. Now i can get a engine wiring harness, but its more likely gonna be from a 1996 or 1997 lumina, will this work or are chevy harnesses different.

Thanks

I think it would mate up as long as it has the 4T60E and not the 4T65. Your next concern would be with the connections from all of the sensors going to the dash.
