1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme

My cruise control was working then suddenly stopped.

I searched all of the forums on this subject and tried everything that I could.

I replaced the stalk/multifunction switch and checked all of the fuses.

I replaced the cruise control module under the hood ( electric model )

Please help if you can

I also tried lifting the brake pedal while I turned on the cruise but nothing.

And checked the brake lights , I'm thinking a shorted wire or maybe a speed sensor the would tell the cruise module that the minimum speed has been achieved .

I had problems with cruise control on my 92/93 Luminas, in both cases it was the vacuum hose to the reservoir ball ahead of the LF wheel.

In one case, the hose had abraded by the battery tray, in the other it had a leak near the cruise transducer. Both cases resulted in low vacuum in the cruise vacuum circuit.

Does the heater system tend to shift to "defrost" (air delivery to the bottom of the windshield) without you deliberately changing the setting on the HVAC control?

Yes ..it changes from defrost to vent and heat as it should. I called a professional auto electric here in Michigan who's coming Monday to look at my car ( $65.00) sevice fee but he seems to think it's a communication problem possibly a speed sensor malfunction or coroded wire termial. I'm done messing with I spent 2 or 3 day's on it and swapped the multifuntion switch and the electric cruise control servo and checked every fuse.

So I will keep you guy's and girls posted to what this guy find and maybe give this mobile auto electric guy a recomondation here..for the Michigan members.

  • 4 weeks later...

so it's fixed now , there was a broken wire between the module and the column switch . It was the 12 volt power supply to the cruise switch.
