different throttle body

i just signed up to your site. what a relief to finally find people that want to modify thier w-bodies. ok, to the question. I have an 89 buick regal 2.8. This has been a reliable car since I got it (my second car ever, 85 lesabre was my first) and I'm gonna keep it for a winter vehicle. I still like my car but am not interested in dumping serious money in my car so I have been doing cheap upgrades to my car. I put a cold air intake and a performance exhaust (had to replace it anyway so I spent a couple of extra for the performance) and some custom interior work. Anyways, I talked to a friend at work that owns a sundance with a ton of custom work and he said he got a larger throttle body from a 3.8 out of a mopar van. my question is can I go to the junkyard and find a larger throttle body for on my car? Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Its not that simple. You have two sensors on the TB, and it only bolts up one way, so you would have to find one exactly like yours, and all the ones exactly like yours are the same size. Plus, going to a bigger TB without any internal work is pointess

RMS racing sells ported throttle bodies.

but you have to be realistic its a 2.8! for the money you can dump into the engine your not going to get a huge of performance out of it. Its an endurance motor if anything.

you can also go to Fastfoarward performance the w-body version and look up an underdrive pully, chip, and mounts. for the price of those parts you will get the best perforamnce.

someone help me with links i have had quite a few to drink tonight and im not on my computer with the shortcuts.

if you want great handling go to tirerack and look up KYB suspension, so far thats the cheepest place i have seen.

i know it's only a 2.8. i'm not planning on dumping tons of money into it. I was just looking for cheap ways to get a little more out of my car. make it a little more fun to drive while i have it. also, im not trying to start anything but what you said, robby1870, about it being pointless putting on a larger throttle body, in my opinion wrong. If that was true, putting on a better flowing air filter would be pointless. I can get a different throttle body from a local junkyard for 12 bucks no matter what size it is. If I only gained 1 horsepower to me it would be worth it because I would learn something about my car in the process. All i was wondering was if anyone has taken a throttle body from a 3.1 or 3.8 and put it on a 2.8. anyways, thanks for the advice about the subframe.

Not to take a side, but there are more effective parts to get the best bang for the buck.

dc_119, here are some little things that will show you the best improvement:
