mamag
Abs/trac lights on. Diagnostic codes c-1218, c-1222, c-1233, c-1245. Does the hub need replaced or is it a wire issue. If it is a wire where should I look? Already inspected the hub - ohm reading when spinning the rotor was 1000-1100. Sensor lead was 5volts. visual inspection of the wires showed no break from the hub to main bundle(? Near the ac compressor I think - sorry not great at identifying everything in the engine bay). Pump ground (on the strut) has been cleaned as well as strut face. Any suggestion?
Cutlass350
Welcome to the Forums! IMHO, 1) use Google and 2) add the description of the error code to the threads. People have better things to do that to do the basic research that you should have done already. And, no, people do not have the gazillion error code numbers memorized, :-) With the above said, I'll add that you should NOT replace ANYTHING until you know what the errors mean. It's best to get a GM DEALERS SERVICE MANUAL form ebay. It can save you money by not replacing unneeded parts. Good Luck!
mamag
Already looked for the manual on eBay and amazon can't find it, at least not the service manual. Haynes is no help. Did a google (and other serch engines) search already and can't find this combo of codes anywhere. Looked up the codes: c1218 - pump motor circuit shorted to voltage or motor ground open. C1222 - right front sensor input 0 C1233 - right front speed circuit open or shorted C1245 right front ABC channel does not move No clue what this translates to I would think wiring but not sure I'm an emt, don't have tons of money to go to a dealer. If possible id like to do it myself and save the money I don't have to spare.

I have my degree in computer engineering and my minor is in mechanical engineering. I know the Delco and Bosch ABS systems very well. To me, they are simple. :-) However, EMTs save lives - like they did the in Boston Marathon tragedy. IMHO, you guys are the rock stars - along with the nurses, doctors, and all of the first responders! Back to the tech. I'm assuming that your '05 has the Bosch ABS system. If you could take a picture and post it, that would be great. So, let me go over the errors: C1218 - pump motor circuit shorted to voltage or motor ground open. C1245 right front ABC channel does not move The main ABS unit is bad. It has to be replaced with the same part model number. And, I do mean the same exact model number. It does not make a rat's *ss difference if the replacement ABS unit is from the same model/year car. Different cars have different options (like Traction Control, stability control, etc). So, the model number must be exactly the same. Or, send the ABS unit to be fixed. IMHO, that may be a better option. That's what I did with my car - as a matter of fact, that's why I got my car. My sister and brother-in-law freaked when the dealer gave them a repair estimate of close to $2,000. It cost me less than $200 (including the brake fluid and new pads). ============== ============== C1222 - right front sensor input C1233 - right front speed circuit open or shorted The right front wheel bearing MIGHT be bad. Or, the wire could be broken, cut, disconnected. First, before you ship off the ABS unit, look at the wire that goes to the front right wheel. Take the connector off, make sure it's clean, use some dielectric grease, put the connector back on, check for error again. If the error still exists, then you need a 1K resistor. Radio Shack has them, or get them from ebay for ~$1.10 (inc s&H), get them from radio shack on ebay by searching for: NTE EW210 1/8W Metal Resistor 1K Ohms 2% #:EW210 Connect the 1K resisor to the ABS connector that goes back to the ABS unit. You may have to hold it by your hand. Then, turn the key to "on" and read the ABS error codes. NOTE: You may have to clear the existing codes first (after you put on the 1K resistor). Then, turn the car off and then on again. Then, look for the error codes. Note that the C1218 and C1245 motor codes will likely not appear again until the car is driven more than 0.1 miles and over ~10mph. If you have a multi-meter (~$10 or less from Walmart), then measure the ABS sensor on the wheel bearing, it should read between ~700 and 1,500 ohms. If it's bad, it'll likely be open or shorted. Let me know what you find! Good Luck! Joe Ran the '97 Boston Marathon (officially and legally - many people run unofficially since it's a qualify only race with a limited number of entries allowed), and running team caption for over 10 years.
