3800_LTZ
Hello I am in the process od a top swap on my 1999 Lumina LTZ 3800. (I'll post lots of details and pics on this later! ) I have finished the front head and have installed it. I purchased a ZZP front power log. When installing it, I ran into a problem with the A/C compressor being in the way. I unbolted the compressor bracket, and the bolts on the back of the AC compressor and rotated it towards the front of the car so I could install the plog. The compressor won't fit into place with the plog installed. Has anyone else had this issue, or have any suggestions on this? fabricate a new bracket to move the compressor? AC delete is not an option, 100+ degree summers... Thanks in advance for your input or thoughts...

White93z34
I don't THINK a gen2 w-body ac compressor bracket is any different, but if you got a both front and rear one from a gen2 w-body you MIGHT be able to make it fit... since it was designed for a gen2 I'd like to think it would fit using gen2 hardware... Crazy K
I noticed that the bracket for the A/C compressor was different between an 1999 L36 and 1999 L67, it might be the difference. the supercharger idler pulley mount does not fit properly on an L36, as in the third bolt cannot be installed with the A/C bracket attached. i think I can get away with it if i bolt it on after removing the bracket then reinstall said bracket. I think an L67 bracket moved the compressor outboard 1/2 inch.
carkhz316
You are on to something with this as I had a problem relating to the AC comp on my Z34 post-top swap. What happened is the SC belt was just barely rubbing on the outer most diameter/ edge of the AC pulley. I ended up swapping the forward-most SC belt idler for a smaller diameter (about 3/4" smaller I had to go down to) to bring the arc of the belt in/ rearward to so as to not have the rubbing anymore. Assuming you are correct about the L36/ L67 compressor brackets being different, that would explain it. I think you're right Crazy, and this is most likely OP's issue with his Plog since we're both using the bastard child 1.5 gens cars.
3800_LTZ
the supercharger idler pulley mount does not fit properly on an L36, as in the third bolt cannot be installed with the A/C bracket attached. That is exactly the problem I had, I ended up rotating the AC forward just so I could get that 3rd bolt in. Then I put it back in place, until I had to move it again to get the plog in. I have tried to find the GM part number for the compressor bracket for the L36 vs the L67 but I haven't had much luck. I am going to try a salvage yard, but the l67's are rare there... not a lot of compressor brackets for the 3.8 on ebay either. here is one I found on ebay, looks the same as the one I took off though... http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-02-03-IMPALA-GRAND-PRIX-MONTE-CARLO-REGAL-AIR-COMPRESSOR-BRACKET-3-8L-ONLY-/281081684856?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AIntrigue&hash=item4171c62378&vxp=mtr This is the 3rd bolt of the idler pulley, as you can see the AC compressor was moved to access it. 3800_LTZ
I did find an L67 at the salvage yard, took the front and rear brackets from the compressor. It is a different bracket, and once I installed it, the plog and the compressor both fit ok, though the clearance was tight Thanks for the input on this.
