nelson480
I have a p0171 lean code on my 97 3.8L I sprayed carb cleaner all over the intake, no bump in idle at all. Fuel pressure is at a shakey 42psi [h=5]So i have 2 problems.. P0171... thinking TB gasket, it looks warped where it connects to the intake? Sprayed carb cleaner everywhere no bump in idle, idles only slightly rough but fires right up and runs great. Just keeps throwing engine light instantly. Radio... After market Pioneer would love to blast the volume on its own, so i got a stock radio from a local yard. It has the Equalizer, works but if you turn the volume to a certian point the audio cuts off til you turn the radio off then back on. Thought it was the amp in the radio, so i swapped the cd player and face plate to another radio, same exact problem[/h]
jman093
I'm still guessing vacuum leak. Check all the hoses and everything they attach to. There are even hoses inside the vehicle for the HVAC.

95 vert
Mass air flow sensor. It will cause a lean code with no other symtoms
ron350
The 3800II is bad about the EGR tube cracking along the bottom causing a vacuum leak. This is the corrugated steel tube that connects to the lower intake manifold below the throttle body.
