pt80chip Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Hi Everyone, I have a 2002 Impala 3.4 and need to disable a fuel injector for a short period of time (1-2 hours). Is there an easy way to do that? On my brother's Lumina you can unplug each one easily but on the Impala the plugs are not easily accessible. Thanks in advance Quote
White93z34 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Not without pulling the upper intake. Quote
RobertISaar Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 "easiest" non-destructive way would be to remove the pin that controls the injector you want to disable from the injector harness. Quote
Turbocharged400sbc Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 as he said, pull the inj ground wire/pin from the inj harness connector....all you need for em is a small sewing needle or safety pin needle. google metri-pack or weatherpack pin or terminal removal Quote
pt80chip Posted February 24, 2013 Author Report Posted February 24, 2013 I see that there are a bunch of things connected to the intake, will this be a needlessly complicated task or is it just a handful of bolts? Quote

There is an intake manifold above the injector plug, do you know if I can remove it without taking out the manifold? I have tried accessing the pin with a tiny screwdriver but I'm not convinced it's possible. Quote

pt80chip Posted February 24, 2013 Author Report Posted February 24, 2013 Sorry guys, I just realized that I replied 3 times to the same thread. Since I am logged in the answers weren't showing up, now I checked a different browser and see my respond 3 times Quote
RobertISaar Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 you wouldn't be disconnecting the pin from the injector plug itself, just the injector harness... here's two images to give you an idea. looks like the injector harness connector is right by the coilpacks. http://i.imgur.com/dUQwIF1.gif http://i.imgur.com/pDfdNio.gif Quote

Any tips on how to disable it? Quote

RobertISaar Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 that diagram is specifically for an 02 impala w/3400. should be able to match the colors to verify pin position before pulling it. cylinder 5 is in position G, black wire with white stripe. Quote

Thanks for all the info. I disconnected the two parts and the plastic is pretty brittle. Already managed to break a few pieces. The connector is a little stubborn, is there a secret to removing the pins? Quote
