GnatGoSplat Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 On the news about the China hacking thing, I briefly spotted a 2nd gen W-body Regal and noticed the Chinese ones had different taillights. Thought I'd get a closer look searching Google. I guess they've been like that since '05, but I'd never seen one before. http://carinpicture.com/2012/05/buick-regal-china-2005-2008/buick-regal-china-2005-2008-photo-05/ Also have different headlights and grille. http://carinpicture.com/2012/05/buick-regal-china-2005-2008/buick-regal-china-2005-2008-photo-12/ Might be fun for a Regal/Century owner to swap in the China tails for a unique look, though I guess not like anyone outside of this forum would notice. Night Fury Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Tail lights make it look a lot like that generation Sonata Quote
Euro Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 There was someone years ago on the Regal site, I think, that put those tails on his car. You need the taillights, and the center section. And I believe shave part of the bumper, because the Chinese rear section goes down farther towards the bumper than the US Regals. It was expensive as fuck too IIRC. Shipping especially from the thin eye land. Not sure of my opinion. Sometimes I like it, others I hate it. Quote
Euro Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 The inside is also 100x nicer than the US cars as well. Buick in China is a Mercedes Benz here. There's rear climate control, tv's in the headrests, rear entertainment center, etc etc. Quote
skitchin Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I like the front, but the back looks to Mitsubishi or something Quote

Hmmm, I thought if you had the GM p/n, you could actually order export stuff from domestic GM parts dealers. That not the case any more? I remember people used to order B-body export lights and such in the US until it was discontinued. Although I guess that would probably cost more than having used parts shipped from China. Quote
urbex Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I thought I saw an ad for those as the Chevy Lumina? Quote
2k2cse Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I've been wanting to do this swap for a while. I love the looks of the Chinese Regal. Quote

2k2cse Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 The middle piece says 750 yen...but a yen is equal to a US penny Its "Yuan" from what I converted and the center piece would be about $120, which isn't too bad if that was converted right. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted February 25, 2013 Author Report Posted February 25, 2013 That actually sounds pretty cheap. Quote
