AL
I found a mint set of factory heated seats from a 98 GS at the local yard and decided they should go in Britts 01 GS... She has the dark grey interior and these seats are light grey but I didnt notice that till I got home... She said she didnt mind the different shade... Her car is not prewired for heated seats so I have to do the appropriate wiring to make them work properly, another snag along the way is that she has a factory airbag seat while the seats I bought are not, I made this work as well I first pulled the drivers seat and found that the connector was prewired for heated seats but the wiring did not make it up under the center console, so I have to run wires to it as originally planned... The second pigtail you see is the airbag wiring I started the seat disassembly in the garage Airbag is mounted to the seat frame, I had to swap the seat frames in order to keep the airbag mounting points Both seat back frames off Airbag frame with cushion mounted up on the heated seat bottom Heated seat skin on over the airbag, as far as I am concerned, it should function normally but will rip the seat skin if it ever is activated A comparison of the drivers and passenger seats, the drivers has a small wrinkle where its stretched over the airbag, I think over time it will look less noticeable Now for wiring the car... You need 4 wires ran for the switches, you need 12V ignition, ground, and both signal wires to the seat... One wire from the switches should be hooked up the the dimmer switch but I just connect it to 12V as it doesnt bother me if the seat lights are on all the time as you cant really see them... I pulled the ignition voltage from under the steering column and ran one fused wire down to the center console and attached both switches and both lights to the wire... I then ran a ground wire to a bolt that bolts to the shifter assembly... I then ran the pink and blue wires to the seat connector... I ran them to the car side of the connector so that the seat can still be disconnected from the car... I learned this the hard way on my Regal... The pink wire is the high/low setting and the blue wire is the temp sensor to make sure the seats dont overheat (92 in low and 112 on high)... I will try to get some pics of the wiring tomorrow when its light out... I do not have the seats back in the car yet Hers the switches wired up... I havent hooked up the passenger side signal wires yet as the passenger side does not even have a seat connector, but I happen to pull the one from the JY car I will be finishing the install tomorrow and I will probably get a matching back seat in the next couple of days as well
AL
Finished the install, forgot to take a pic of the seats after they were back in the car It turns out that the drivers heating element doesnt work, but down the road, I will look into it again, I have quite a few hours into this so I am ready for a break
