Reride
Do I need to have my '92 CS vert on level ground to change the STB as you would if you were changing the front struts?

19Cutlass94
front wheels must be on the ground
ScoobyDoo82
You might have to bounce the car a bit to make it fit, its shocking how much those strut towers move w/o a brace.
Reride
Well, I made the wife mad by putting her truck out in the weather to get flat ground, But I got the LQ1 STB put on my '92 3.1 CS vert today. It was very easy to. I didn't lift the car off the ground, just unbolted and replaced. The only issue which is very slight is the trans dipstick is making contact with the STB. But I can live with that. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Steve
white4d96
FWIW On my GP I have to lift one corner of the car slightly to get the STB to pop into place.
intern8tion9l
I use a big mallet
Reride
The only thing I needed to make the STB go over the studs was the palm of my hand. One good hit and it went over quite easy.
Euro
I remember having to bang the fuck out of the LQ1 bar to put it on my Lumina. Couple hard rubber mallet smacks and it was good to go. It came off easier than putting it on
