EGR removal question

First let me say that while this is my first post, I've visited here many times and found a lot of useful information. I hope someone can help me with this question.

I went to replace the EGR valve on my 92 Grand Prix (3.4L) Sunday. I got to it and removed the two flange bolts no problem, but when I tried to take off the valve it would not come off. I didn't want to try too hard to take it off in case that would have done some serious damage.

Is there another bolt/screw/retaining clip holding the EGR on? Could it just be stuck to the mounting plate? I'm open to any ideas. BTW, it's the original EGR, car just turned over 187k miles

it is probly caked on there. where are you located?

anyways, mine was pretty tough the first time, but now is easy. it shouldnt be hard, then the lower pipe leads fromt he valve to the exhaust with like a 10mm holding it on, but thats 8" lower. so id try moving it back and forth. they are really expensive, so dont break it. like 300$ new. does it still work? getting a 32 SES???

I've been in Atlanta for 3 years, before that was in Iowa for 3 years and St. Louis for 5. The bolts were a little rusty when I took them off, but I didn't want to twist/pry/rubber mallet the EGR to try to get it off if something else was holding it on.

I'm getting a 32 and a 35 code, but not all the time. Usually the check engine light will come on when I'm coasting after driving higher speeds, like on an exit ramp. When I start it up again the light will not be on. It barely passed emmissions this year on the NOX, and that was with a brand new catalytic converter. I literally drove it from getting a new converter to getting the emmisions tested and it barely passed.

My EGR light code(32) came on when the car was warmed up. then it ran crappy, like stalling at lights, and a rough and low idle. took it off, completely cleaned it, and then reassembled it with new gaskets. worked perfect.

My buddy's Grand Am did that, so I cleaned up the EGR passage and EGR and no more light.

The passage is a lot easier to clean on the 3100 if fully clogged (which the Grand Am's was) than the 3.4, but it definetely still isn't "easy".

When I cleaned mine on my 3.1L, I just took the plenum off, and used a drill bit a hair smaller than the opening and drilled the stuff out, since it was pretty caked on there. I dont know about a DOHC, but Im guessin it can be done, I have never really looked at a DOHC plenum
