crazyd
Maybe these were only designed to last 20 years and this was the magic year for my '92 coupe, but I'm all out of threads on the adjuster rod for my door handle and it's gone uncooperative again. What's the next step with these? I tried bending the rod with some vise grips but couldn't make that work either.
94 olds vert
http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/43727-GEN-1-Coupe-Door-Handles/page2 Take a look at this thread on page 2. I have dealt with this issue before. Do not bend the rods that isn't the best thing in the world for them.
RobertISaar
i've done the rod bending trick before.... disconnected the handle, grabbed a c-clamp and more or less straightened the final bend in the rod so that it would reach higher... seems to have worked, but i don't know if i'll attempt it again. 19Cutlass94
Why don't you just take a die and make some new threads on the rod? Sent from my iPhone in some random spot of Texas.

enzo354
I wish I could count on one hand how many of the passenger side one's I have had break on me. They aren't meant to last anywhere near 20 years

19Cutlass94
I've only broke one door handle and that was cause it was iced up and I got pissed at it and just tore it off. Emptydarkone
How about a stud extender? In the size you need, of course.

rich_e777
I`d love to just replace the door that has a regular handle, i hate fucking with these things. If you drill a hole and mount a small roller wheel in the brass thing that slides up and down on the lever they dont have as much stress and the brass piece wont "shave off" the metal on the black lever with the wieght at the end of it. Current project.
