Anybody got any rear suspension nuts and bolts (anything that goes into the knuckle, trailing arms, or lateral arms) for a 96 cutlass lying around? Looking to come up with a full set to powder coat before I tear everything down and replace. I Don't think I'm going to be able to reuse many of what I have anyway. The guys in the yards around here aren't going to be too happy about doing a whole bunch of work to sell me a few 5$ bolt...Here's what's in there now...

Home Depot ought to have them, or your local hardware store that has a good stock of nuts/bolts. Got my new control arm to subframe bolts from my local mom n pop hardware store. Had a whole aisle of standard and metric bolts. Sadly they've since closed. :(

I figured they wouldn't be the right grade so I was concerned that they could break and I'd have to drill them out. As I think about it, the trailing arm and at least the center bolts for the lateral arms don't thread into the knuckle so if they broke both halves would just fall out.

ok, I'll check the Depot...thanks guys!

And too bad about your local mom n pop hardware, I miss the ones around here too!

Napa is the one auto store that I haven't tried, I'll check there first. Thanks!

Thanks for the offer, I did find a set. I wound up getting a complete rear suspension, bolts and all, from a junkyard in Arizona - which I Highly recommend (Apache auto wrecking) . $325 shipped got the subframe bracket, knuckles, trailing arms, lateral arms, knuckles, sway bar brackets, gas filer neck bracket, and all the bolts. Could have gotten the calipers and rotors for another 25 but didn't need them. All the parts were Perfect rust free parts which went straight for powder coating. check this out:

Can't wait to put 'em on! Planning on starting as soon as it's warm enough for my vert to take over train-station duties. Maybe sooner if it fails inspection tomorrow - somethings rubbing when I hit the brakes.

Those are some nice looking parts! If you don't mind my asking, how much did the powdercoating set you back?

One thing I've learned with painted parts is you need to retorque them after awhile as the paint under the nut/bolt head wears, it will loosen. Powdercoating is like a plastic coating, so I'm guessing it will do the same thing over time.

Some simple but damn good advice right there.

Yep, almost had a serious problem once with my painted front strut/knuckle assemblies. Balljoint nuts got loose. Only saved by castle nuts and cotter pins! Damn good idea someone had way back when to put castle nuts and cotter pins on balljoints and tierods!
