Robby1870 Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 It doesnt make it shift faster, just the feel is crisper Quote
Bolt_Crank Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I would recommend buying the proper replacement.. those 'crisper' shifts can be really hard on the tranny, esp. reverse to first, and when it downshifts into first. My car shifts pretty good as it is, and my best 1/4 mile time I beleive was with the modulator plugged in. well, if it cause that many problems, GM wouldn't have made an adjustable one availiable.... it's there mainly for the people who want a really really uber smooth ride... And, no they wont tear up the tranny Quote
Brian P Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 cause when you PLUG the line that's like the adjustable modulator being on its highest setting! and over time THAT is bad for the trans. You adjust it to the point where shifts are firm, but going to reverse doesnt slam into gear. It sure as shit isnt bad for the transmission because GM PUTS IT on their trannys THEMSELVES!!! Like Lumina police cars, hell my mom's '95 Cutlass has it stock! Adjust it all youi want and have a nice f-n day Quote

sonyman87 Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 i know this is probably old and already taken care of, but my 2cents and theorys and experiences.. means jack shit but here we go.. when the motor is cold the 4t60e willnot go into overdrive until the tranny/motor is warmed up to some minimum operation degree. ~100deg? probably normal right? not sure where im going with this cuz i dont know the 4t60e very well at all. anyone help me here with this? a possible reason the torque conveter not locking in or shifting to 4th the ecu is not registerting an operations temp... just a hypothosis. I agree with your theory. Quote
Robby1870 Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 Yes the torque converter will not lock up until a certian engine temp, aroudn 120-130* Quote
slick Posted November 8, 2003 Author Report Posted November 8, 2003 That could also be the reason. It's been getting cold outside. Quote
PaPaPooh Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 pluging the line could be bad i would try to get the right part to give you firmer shifts BUT hard harsh shifts are better for the trans than soft mooshy shifts the harder the shift the longer the clutch packs will last there will be little to no clutch pack slipage there for the friction material lasts longer hard parts lasting is a whole other story and i wont get into that Quote
