Replace 3.4 with 3800 w/supercharger

Does anyone have a detailed list of what is required to replace my 3.4L V-6 with a Supercharged 3800 V-6? I have been told I will need a new radiator, new computer, 4T65E HD transmission, wiring harness the same year as the new engine. Beyond that I have no idea.

 

Any assistance is appreciated.

you want a write up for LQ1 (3.4 DOHC) removal and L67(3800III w/ SC) installation been done lots of times, enjoy researching. Lots of threads out there about it.

 

Its been said to get a harness from a 98 Monte because they are the easiest to modify. It also depends on what year the car recieving the engine is, if its a first gen then OBDII swap will be needed.

P-Log & Downpipe when mine eventually runs. And now on my to do list is: fix giant gaping hole in floor/firewall.

 

The Gen V M90, XP cam, and downpipe were more than enough for me in my Impala.

 

I know headers have been done. I also know you had better be good with a welder for either murdering your firewall, or custom fabricating your own headers. Or... Didn't someone start making some to fit a 1st Gen for an outrageous amount of money?

Milzy also has retardo-expensive LQ1 headers..... that to my knowledge, no one has bought, ever. could be the same situation with the 3800 headers, i rarely see someone state that they're running a MMS product.

I agree with ya there. I did actually run his PCM tune in my '99GTP and was very pleased with it but I couldn't recall anyone else running his products, mainly because of the pricing I would assume.

Milzy quoted me $7K for an LT4w/ trans swap, seemed reasonable to me but stuff came up with other stuff and money wasnt avalible. Still think about doing it but to actually be able to work on the beast in the engine bay will be damn near impossible. I wish Olds would`ve dropped L67`s into the CS from the start.

BXX would also likely say "fuck headers" on L67/1G cars after what he went through with Andrei's car.

 

Yeah, a BFH ended up being my friend along with tilting the engine in a certain position for proper clearance.
