RobertISaar
i'll explain: the 91 needs to be moved, like now, and i need to know if it will be safe to drop the LQ1/4T60E into the engine bay with the two lower mounts and the dogbone mount, but not the trans mount since i don't have the bracket to do so. i basically will be dropping it all in(along with the rack/etc), winching it up onto a trailer, going ~7 miles, taking it off of the trailer, then attaching trans mount bracket and mount when it's here. am i going to damage the other mounts? planning on getting all solid mounts, just not sure if it will be wise to leave that much weight basically hanging on the driver's side of the engine bay. or perhaps i can wedge a 2X4 in there or something to take the weight off of the other mounts? Night Fury
I don't see it being a big issue with a 2x4 in there but what do I know...
RobertISaar
i didn't think it would be, i'll just have to remove what's left of the trans cooler lines so i don't crush them. i ASSUME there will be at least a little bit of space in that area that won't put a lot of unnecessary weight on the trans. 19Cutlass94
you would better off putting a 2x4 under the trans on that side of the cradle and leaving the dogbones hooked up, or unhookup the dogbones and just let it ride. Crazy K
I gave you the/a bracket? what are you referring to??? whatever you do I think you'd better support it somehow?

I gave you the/a bracket? what are you referring to??? whatever you do I think you'd better support it somehow? driver's side, bracket that attaches to the trans side pan(this is the one i'm missing). trans mount gets sandwhiched between that and the frame side bracket. 19Cutlass94
If you leave the passengers side mount on, but pop the stubs out of the holes, nothing will bend.

I have one. take a picture of it, or better describe it? Can you use it if I drop it off in 7 to 10 days?
RobertISaar
If you leave the passengers side mount on, but pop the stubs out of the holes, nothing will bend. ..... but then nothing would really be holding it down? I have one. take a picture of it, or better describe it? Can you use it if I drop it off in 7 to 10 days? Al may still have one for me, but i don't know the next time i'll be in the Toledo area, let alone when he's not getting slammed with work. no pic, but alldata has a slightly less horrible version than what i can mspaint. 19Cutlass94
The mount would still be in the "pocket" and with 700+lbs there, its not exactly going to be bouncing in the air.
Crazy K
I should have one. And to be sure it's not the 93- version that is made of tubular bent steel?
RobertISaar
using a 95 trans, so i'm fairly certain the older style mount wouldn't work. it's also unnecessarily bulky and would like to avoid it.
Crazy K
have. coming your way soon.
RobertISaar
have. coming your way soon. define soon? from the looks of it, i'll be ordering the rest of the parts i need to throw in before dropping in the engine/trans from rockauto today. you do have the 4 bolts that attach it to the side pan as well, right? i assume when this combo was pulled, that bracket was removed and used on the 4T65 that got dropped in place of it. i might have another odd item to find.... item #3: i'm not certain if it's missing on the block itself, but it's not on the bracket you dropped off..... i'm quickly remembering why i hate finishing other people's projects..... a whole bunch of little stuff comes up missing way too often. Crazy K
bolts included, I have that little bracket too. they're yours. I agree, I hate other people's projects!
RobertISaar
<3 ordering pair of mounts + both PS lines now.... and from the looks of it, i'll need at least a short rubber hose on the one end.... but that can wait until it's transported for me to deal with. at least the mounts/alt/rack/difficult part of the PS lines will be done. also: all 4 parts from O'Rielly come up to $92.18 w/free shipping(and lifetime warranties)..... beats Rockauto($105.00) due to parts shipping from 3 different locations. RobertISaar
orielly dropped part of the order.... guess they don't carry solid trans mounts anymore.... managed to find that Summit sells them for ~$22 shipped though. RobertISaar
Yep, I still have your bracket and bolts lol as we can see, i'm far too damn lazy when it comes to this stuff...... i mean, it takes my dad losing his house for me to buy the rest of the stuff necessary to put the car back together. RobertISaar
trans mount is here.... last thing i ordered, first to arrive? go Summit. anyways, it feels like a solid unit, but the only hydraulic ones i've played with have already been damaged/destroyed, so perhaps Ken will be able to tell. 19Cutlass94
Ive never even seen a hydrualic trans mount. I always thought they were all solid units.
RobertISaar
Anchor makes both.... 2712 vs 2712SR. the factory units are supposedly hydraulic. i have yet to kill a 4T60E trans mount though. certainly has lasted longer than the 3x00 lower engine mount. i can recall exactly when/where that one ripped apart on me. RobertISaar
regardless, i have both solid mounts and one PS line currently. waiting on the other line to come in, looks to be scheduled for the 26th....
