this is getting kinda annoying lol just put a tranny in 3 weeks ago then had to pull it all back out to fix a leak in the tranny than back in than the oil pump went a week ago got a junk yard motor and just got it ready and sitting back in the car all i can say is through the top is the fastest and easiest way to pull motor and tranny as 1 after u pull the half shafts it takes about 45 min to unhook the harness easy if u unplug it over by the computer that unhooks the injector and all top end sensors the other harness is the cooling fans starter speedo and 2 of the icm plugs that harness stays in the car pull the fans and the radiator all that u have after that is 2 exhost bolts and 2 motor mount bolts on each side hook up the picker and wiggle it out we got it down takes me and a friend about 30 minutes to pull it other cool part of pulling motor and tranny as 1 is its self standing with them bolted together you can just sit it on the ground it stands perfect

W-body engine/trans removal, actually not that bad considering how much stuff is getting moved around.

only thing i hate about replacing my battery is reprogramming everything and getting my idle relearn so much shit to set in the international

I've pulled the motor/trans so many times in my car, I've got it down to a science.

Quite sad actually...

Sent from my iPhone in some random spot of Texas.

do you pull them out the top like me or out the bottom like others ?

I've been dropping it out the bottom recently, but that's been because of headers in a 3.8l 1st gen.

Took about 4 hours from start to finish to drop it out the bottom, about 3 out the top.. Only thing going out the top is removing the hood by yourself. Not so much heavy as extremely bulky.

For pulling tranny really depends on tools available.

I have a bar for holding the engine in the car while dropping the cradle/tranny only.

I do it that way depending on if i'm using a lift or what the engine is.

On 3800's it is too easy to simply drop the cradle with everything attached if you have no lift and need to pull tranny.

I would think it takes longer to hang engine and pull cradle/tranny on ground.
