can somebody please help me and tell me why my waterpumps keep cracking around the pulley on the front side of pump. The equipment we are talking about is a chevy 350 :think:

That is not an engine we are familiar with....... But if I had to guess, bolt torque numbers aren't to spec, or there's something behind one part of it or something. Chunk of gasket? pebble? boulder?

if it's cracking near the pulley, there must be some type of excessive pressure being put on it.

 

overtight belt

misaligned pulley(s)

or the location where it's bolting to is an uneven surface, causing misalignment.

I think the OP is pulling your leg.

Why else would he post a SBC question on this forum.

i'm going to say it was probably an innocent mispost, and as for possible causes, i'm going to say the same thing saar said.
