Ribbie Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 So the alternator craps out on my '92 Buick Regal GS with the 3800 Series 1 on Friday night on the way home. My question to the experts that reside on this board is: Will an alternator from an, '89 Buick LeSabre with the 3.8 in it (this motor is not the 3800), fit in my '92 3800? Please and Thanks! Quote
Redfox340 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 It may be possible, but not worth dealing with half-assed / aged parts. Why get a used one when that'll crap out on you as well? Go to a local parts store and take advantage of a limetime warrenty alternator. That's a personal opinion, I don't like doing the same project / replacement twice. - Erik Quote

Ribbie Posted November 3, 2003 Author Report Posted November 3, 2003 the 3.8 in the 89 LeSabre is a 3800 Sorry, no, 3.8 SFI. And for anyone who cares, they are interchangable with the exception of the "hot wire" mount. Which was not a big deal. So in the end, 30 minutes, and I was done, no cost to me. that is a good thing seeing as how I am currently unemployed. D Quote
