Topless95
So my 95 vert is sitting in the driveway and I have no keys for it. The dealer said my only option was to get a locksmith since they can't look up key codes that far back. even if I do I still have the resistor key issue to overcome before it will start. Anyone have any ideas on getting a key made for a 1995 vert?
RobertISaar
the key resistor can be bypassed, finding out the actual cut of the key is the bigger pain/expense. from what i'm thinking, you can either have a locksmith play with it to find out the cut or you can just replace the entire cylinder. neither method is going to be cheap and fast. Psych0matt
May I ask how you lost your keys, or where they went?
ron350
Try another dealer. I have had two spare sets of keys cut from the VIN # at the dealership. The dealer takes the VIN # and calls a 1-800 number and they call the dealer back with the key blank # and the key cuts. The price was not cheap but all my keys were cut with a key gun instead of a grinder.
GOT2B GM
My dealer can cut keys off the VIN for our cars yet.....
Topless95
May I ask how you lost your keys, or where they went? They were in my coat. It was "borrowed" to wear over a sweatshirt by the little woman to go to a Friday night football game. She somehow left the coat there with the keys in it. Of course she's VERY SORRY I'll try more dealers tomorrow.

Topless95
Tried another dealer. $85 total for the ignition key and door key. When they make a key off the VIN, theres no guarantee it will start your car or open your door. If the ignition cylinder has been replaced it won't work and you don't get your money back. Mine worked Now I just need to buy a new coat. First things first.

My GTP is supposed to have a chipped key, but the key I have for it isn't chipped. One of these days I"ll get that fixed - right now you can pull the key out of the ignition, drive around, and turn the car off without the key - just can't start it without it. Sounds like you got away for less money than I'll have to!
