asonofabeach69
I posted this over on clubgp as well My 97 GTP is undergoing some moderate weight reduction, I would like to know if any of the steering wheels from any of the older pontiacs w/o the air bag & electronic controls are able to bolt up to the steering column on the 97-03 gp's? Im just looking for a basic but stock looking steering wheel to use. Thanks
Crazy K
I was told that 97 GPs have steel steering wheels, but 98+ use aluminum, so something you could verify and pursue rather than trying to find something aftermarket that sucks by comparison. White93z34
If you are hell bent on saving weight. I'd do a bunch of other things before removing a safety device, aluminum subframe, tubular control arms, lighter wheels, interior removal. you could probably bolt in a 88-93 wheel to save a pound or 2 if you really wanted

rich17
I would pick up a proper racing wheel like a momo or sparco unit. They're built to be very strong with minimal weight. Older non air bag wheels are flimsy and cheap. If you were to get into a crash you would be bracing yourself by the wheel and you do not want it to break
