ShaddowGt
So, i just recently bought this 98 buick regal gs, the previous owner thought that the trans was out in it, got it for a decent deal. originally my thought process was to just replace the trans, mod the motor some, and clean up the interior a bit and have a nice daily driver with some UMPH. i still haven't decided what to do with it, i got the motor out, and saw alot of sad things in the process. one thing that struck me as Holy Crap, was that this is what i saw as soon as the motor was out (pictured below). to me, it looks like an axle failure. the front bolt on the passenger lower side motor mount had come out somewhere along the line, and i think the engine was getting alot of movement, resulting in the failure of the axle, which, if someone could confirm this for me, would make it seem as though the trans had let go? what do you all think? White93z34
Depends on what the car was doing... was it not moving at all, sounding bad, shifting stupid... ?
ShaddowGt
i havent had the car in motion personally, when i bought it it was on a trailer, previous owner said he drove it there. also, there was no SC belt on the car, the idler puller had let go. so, axle failure coupled with a missing supercharger belt = "car doesnt want to go anywhere in dive" ? that was what the previous owner told me. alec_b
Well if the axle let go like that, then yes it would seem like the trans is bad. It's an open differential, if both wheels aren't being driven, no wheels are being driven. Pretty simple.
