white96supreme Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 My buddy sold his 05 mustang gt and has a set of 18x9 Saleen wheels that he is giving me a great deal on. They are stripped and plastidipped. My question is if anyone has tried this combo on a first gen W and if there was any fitment issues. The measurements are as follows: 18x9, backspacing: 6.18", offset: 30mm. As for tires, 235's or 245's? Thoughts? Quote
Cutlass350 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 I tried my 245/45/17 Mustang wheels on my 2000 Intrigue. The offset is all wrong. The rim/tire is too far out. And, that's with the (slightly) deeper Cobra rims. Quote
white4d96 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 (edited) A lot of 2G/3G guys run the Saleen-style wheels and like them. The offset gives those cars the hellaflush look. Considering the 1G's had lower offset wheels from the getgo, I'd imagine they would be sunk in more than the later cars. Whether they rub would have to be determined by you though. http://www.gpona.com/forums/appearance-f14/new-pics-saleen-wheels-t24059.html Edited September 30, 2012 by white4d96 Quote
white96supreme Posted October 2, 2012 Author Report Posted October 2, 2012 Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna do some more research and hopefully check fitment in the next week or so. He also has a set of fr500's and I wonder what those would look like on the ol' girl. Quote
white4d96 Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 Honestly, if he doesn't mind, you're not going to hurt anything just bolting one on and turning the wheel back and forth to make sure you have clearance. You sure as shit better take pics though! Quote
