Generally, if they're making noise, something inside is worn out, broken, or stuck. You MIGHT actually fix them, but if I was going to go through all that trouble to pull them out, I'd not be likely to do anything with them, but throw them away, and replace them.

The valve lifters in the 3100, are the serviceable. Such as, taking them apart, cleaning them and resoaking them in oil.

What is it that causes the 3100 lifters to be so damn noisy? I guess it's my lifters, but my motor has been doing it for like 60K miles now but I've had several experienced techs assure me it's nothing to be worried about - couple years later my motor is still running, so I sort of have to agree with them.

The noise is very annoying. I just put this engine in a month ago and it started ticking 2 weeks after. Recently, its been ticking nonstop. I could drive 50 miles and it still ticks. I know it doesnt harm the engine. But you can still hear it over my excessivly loud exhaust. Saar. Ls1 springs? Whered you hear this? I never heard of this before.
