jake91 Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 I blew a bit of paint off my car with a power washer last month, and i know the only proper way to fix it is repaint the bumper. I was planning on just touching it up with touch up paint, but is there any better method to help it blend in more. It doesn't have to be perfect but maybe look good at 10ft Quote
Addicted to eaton Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 wet sand it smooth, touch it up, wet sand it again, then buff. Quote
jake91 Posted September 14, 2012 Author Report Posted September 14, 2012 what grits do you suggest? Quote
Addicted to eaton Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 800 the first time to knock off the flakes and scuff it up, then paint it, depending on how the touch up paint goes on, 1500, then clear then 2000. and buff, also use dawn dish soap in the water. Quote
jake91 Posted September 14, 2012 Author Report Posted September 14, 2012 crap i wasnt even considering this until now i have no way to buff it i only have a 4400rpm Black N Decker orbital polisher that only accepts bonnets thanks anyways jake Quote
Garrett Powered Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 black pen is what I use Quote
BRZN Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 You just blow off the clear, or the clear and paint? Quote
94 olds vert Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Looks like it is down to the primer. No really good way to fix it with out painting it. I would suggest what Anthony said. You will loose more paint when you sand it. You need a bigger area to blend t anyway. Quote
Euro Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 I've never seen that happen before. Has the front bumper been repainted? Quote
jake91 Posted September 14, 2012 Author Report Posted September 14, 2012 I think the whole car has been Quote
