Nicutlass_Supremacy
Here I am again with another question jajaja. I have the ABS light on since I bought the car about 6 months ago. I haven´t worried about it because the car runs fine and the brakes work. Since I´ve never had a car with ABS I can´t tell the diffrence. I know that the last owner change an ABS sensor and some kind of relay because he give me the old ones. What can I do to check if the ABS is working (and live to tell jajajaja). Some time ago I read that if you change something in the ABS system, the alarm would be there until you cleaned up. Do I have to connect the car to som kind of tester? Thanks a lot!!! RobertISaar
if the light is on, that means the ABS module has detected some kind of fault and is disabling the ABS function, so all you will have are normal power-assisted brakes. considering your location, i'm kind of doubtful that anybody near you will have a scanner capable of reading out which trouble code the ABS module has set. if you have a somwhat recent laptop with windows XP SP3 or vista or 7 and a spare USB port, you can buy or make an ALDL cable and can scan it yourself(and maybe deal with some other local GM 1995 and earlier cars for some profit ). Nicutlass_Supremacy
Where can I buy one of that ALDL cables?
RobertISaar
quite a few places with varying levels of quality and cost. shipping to your location may or may not be a deciding factor as well. i build cables, but it would probably be a few weeks before i could even send one your way. www.aldlcable.com is where i got my first cable, worked ok for 18 months or so, then it basically quit working altogether, so i cut the male OBD1 connector off of it and used it on a cable i built myself. still functional and used almost daily. www.moates.net has a 2 piece cable, really nice quality, kind of expensive compared to other solutions. http://www.reddevilriver.com/aldl.html i've only seen a few people run this one, no complaints that i know of. there are a few on ebay, they seem to mostly be the red devil river units. there may be more, but those are the most well-known places that i can think of. Nicutlass_Supremacy
Well if you can build them I´ll buy you one!!! I´m not in a hurry so if you can build them I´d rather buy you one from you than those you tell me.
