pontgp02 Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 I am looking at flowmaster 40 original series mufflers and i am wondering if they will have more drone than a car with no muffler. My friend has a grand prix that he cut his mufflers off and i dont mind his drone. Just wondering if mine will be worse with these mufflers. I know the mufflers should make the car a little less noisy. any thoughts will help thanks! Quote
skitchin Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 Your car is going to be way quieter with mufflers vs no mufflers, obviously... But mufflers give a much cleaner tone. If you want the loudest most obnoxious shit box sounding car with no chance of a female riding in it, hack the mufflers off. If you want your car to have a modest but throaty sound, flowmasters all day Quote

WhatTheFehl Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Alas, pretty much any aftermarket exhaust on a 3800 is going to sound unpleasant. Quote
pontgp02 Posted August 10, 2012 Author Report Posted August 10, 2012 nah I have a friend that has no muffler on his grand prix and is sounds ok so exhaust im my opinion can sound pretty good for a v6 Quote
WhatTheFehl Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 A 3x00 or a 3.4 DOHC can yes, but every aftermarket exhaust I've heard on a 3800 has sounded terrible. They sound okay, maybe even good at idle. But then when revved you get an instant wet fart noise. Quote

People always say that it sounds bad when you rev it up but I never rev my car up....it sounds bad even when you rev a stock exhaust up. I just look for idle and normal street driving tone. Quote
LuminaPower92 Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 I dont think this sounds bad at all. Note it does have a ZZP Downpipe. [video=youtube;UJpv2OLDksM] Quote
pontgp02 Posted August 10, 2012 Author Report Posted August 10, 2012 Not bad I like it..its just hard with exhaust everyone likes something different Quote

carkhz316 Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 It really seems like exhaust sound is the same as how people feel about oil and/or filters. Everyone likes something a little different. Quote
