Suggestions please

Laveen Z34

I'd like to take out the air box out of my 93 Z34 and thinking of just placing a decent cone filter, will that hurt anything? Do you guys have any other suggestions?

Nope won't hurt a thing, only make it better. I did this to a 95 Cutlass I has with a 3.1, took the top of the air box off, bought a Spectre cone filter and let it rest in the bottom of the box. It sounded bad ass as well because the air box echoed when you slammed on the gas from the filter pulling all the air in.

Believe what you want.

A piece-of-shit warm air intake is about the poorest dollar-per-horsepower mod I can think of other than putting plastic braid on the radiator hoses.

How is it warm air its pulling in if the cone is still inside the box from which cold air comes from? Also the OP never said anything about trying to add horsepower so whats it matter?

It "should" not hurt anything doing that, bit you will lose a bit of power. I will admit, I slapped one on my monte for a little while just for the hell of it. (This was years ago.) Sounds AWSOME! But my IAT's were about 140* in city driving. (Still have the scan from HPT.) Not the best for making power.

To be honest, if you can, I would make a FWI, much more power vs a WAI, and still sounds great.

On a side note: If you do a WAI, I would try not to beat the piss out of it, very high IAT's = KR, and KR + WOT is never a good thing.
