hoodilio Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Hey guys I just ordered new rims for my 1993 Cutty. American Eagle 185 Series 17x8 Polished. I ordered them from 3800performance.com, and the guy said he would sent me 2 wheels first, then if they fit he will send me the other two. So if they do hit the brake calipers on the front, i can send them back and only have to pay for shipping on 2 wheels instead of 4. I think this company seems pretty good, now just to see if he is up to his words. Quote
99RegalGS Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 how much did you get them for. Quote
hoodilio Posted October 30, 2003 Author Report Posted October 30, 2003 $606 for a set of 4, including shipping. Quote
hoodilio Posted October 30, 2003 Author Report Posted October 30, 2003 basically any place i buy the tires, should be able to install them, right. Or should i find a place that just does "crazy" rims. Cause there is this place called Sullivan Tire near my house, and they carry the Kumho's i want. Quote
99RegalGS Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I would highly doubt that tire stores wouldn't be able to do it. Quote

hoodilio Posted October 30, 2003 Author Report Posted October 30, 2003 yes those are good tires, but 1. I cant afford them, 2. they dont make them in the size i want, and 3. I have already decided on the tires that are one model down the line from them. Only 100 buck a tire, and have better ratings in every catagory then most tires twice their price. I'll let u guys know wat they r called wen i get back to my dorm room later tonight. Quote
hoodilio Posted October 30, 2003 Author Report Posted October 30, 2003 the tires are Kumho ECSTA KH11 235/50 17's. Quote
99RegalGS Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I have GoodYear Eagle Hp's I love them. Don't make noise unless you REALLY push them. And wear excellent. Â There around $80 a piece. Quote
hoodilio Posted November 8, 2003 Author Report Posted November 8, 2003 ok, i got home today, and test fit the new wheels on the car, on the front the wheels graze the brake calipers by like a millimeter, is that ok, or should i go buy a 1mm or 2mm spacer for the backs of the wheels. They are AE 185 series wheels. Quote
slick Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 If you really like them, get longer studs and spacers, but if you think you can find another set of wheels that might fit, send them back. Quote
93GTP Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 If they only barely touch, maybe you should consider grinding down the caliper so it clears. Â I'd recommend that before wheel spacers.. Quote
J Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 DO not get Kumhos!!!!!! I had mine for a few weeks then i had to take them back cuz they spun so much, both discount tire and belle tire both told me they are cheap asnd for the guys who want to look good and get no traction. I then got the nitto 555's these are the shit! i love them so much, i can barely turn a tire a lil bit let alone squeal em// just my .02 cents later Jay Quote
hoodilio Posted November 8, 2003 Author Report Posted November 8, 2003 dont worry, i am returning the wheels. Quote
hoodilio Posted November 8, 2003 Author Report Posted November 8, 2003 actualy, i am still thinking about keeping them, i am also dissapointed in the quality of the finish, the front polished part looks good, but the inside dish part that is painted with silver has some big skratches in it, i donno if i should try to buff them out of just leave them as is, if i keep them. I think grinding down part of the brakes might be a good idea. Does anyone with the 077 wheels think that the quality is bad? Quote
slick Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 Hey, if anything, you can buy my wheels, tires, and lugs. I will guarantee that they will fit! Quote
hoodilio Posted November 9, 2003 Author Report Posted November 9, 2003 forget this, i am just gonna return them, i might how ever buy some used 1994-1996 GP 5-spokes, and get them powdercoated black, for a mean look. Then get 35% tints on my windows to finish up the mean look. Quote
